Previously announced at Comic-Con International 2018, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners lets zombiephiles step inside the world of the beloved franchise like never before, thanks to the immersive power of VR. And today, Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment pulled back the curtain with the game’s first official trailer.
“We made this game in VR because we wanted to allow players to truly live in the world of The Walking Dead,” says Skydance Vice President of Global Interactive Marketing Guy Costantini. “As fans of the franchise, we crave a deep, rich gameplay experience, so we made one and can’t wait to share it with our fellow Walking Dead fans and VR game players.”
That richness unfolds across a 15-hour single-player campaign where your choices and their consequences help shape the course of the narrative. This is survival horror at your own pace, with both normal difficulty and permadeath. Surrounded by warring factions, it’s up to you whether to pick a side, summon your stealth to try and avoid the conflict, or play people against each other while you look out for Number One.
“Only in VR can you threaten an NPC with your body language and see them react,” explains Costantini. “Only in VR can you grab a walker’s head to brain them and then have to struggle to free the shiv from their skull. We have built this game to truly leverage the unique advantages of VR, and we can’t wait to share it with players all around the world.”
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is launching in 2020. In the meantime, you can sign up for updates at vrwalkingdead.com or follow the game’s official Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter channels for more details.
