New Year’s resolutions are as much a part of our annual flipping of the calendar from December to January as mistletoe or Champagne, and one we’re all familiar with is promising to exercise more. Yet while staying active is one of the most important parts of being healthy, many people don’t follow through on this key commitment to themselves.

But staying healthy can—and should—be fun. And with Quest 2, you can dive into a rich collection of fun and immersive virtual reality fitness apps and start building new healthy habits today.

Whether it’s a rigorous workout in Supernatural, tracking all your exercises with Oculus Move, or finding your zen with Maloka, Quest 2 is the perfect wellness partner to help you get your full body moving. Even better, you can do it on your schedule. It’ll be so fun it takes the “work” out of “workout.”

Each week in January, we’re highlighting a different fitness-related theme: new habits, fitness adventures, pushing limits, and fitness friends. To help you stick to your resolutions, develop new routines, and keep you leveling up all year long, every Friday this month, we’ll give you killer tips and tricks for using your headset as an essential workout tool. And on Oculus TV, our VR hub for must-see entertainment, we’re launching several brand-new, fitness-related episodes hosted by experts in yoga, dance, high-intensity interval training, and sculpting.

There’s no better time than right now to get started, so let’s jump into this week’s theme: Redefine fitness.

What’s New for January

Oculus TV: Escape and Shape

We have just what you need to get your new year of building a healthy body and mind off to a great start—Escape and Shape, a fantastic series of short, challenging, and immersive VR workouts that’ll leave you energized and excited for more. Head over to Oculus TV every Monday this month for a brand-new episode from some of the best fitness instructors on the planet. Whether it’s dancing in the desert with Alyson Stoner, getting a HIIT of adrenaline in the mountains with Corbin Booker, or boxing it out on a gorgeous beach with Matt Tralli, we’ve got you covered.

To kick it off, this week’s episode, Yoga Bear, connects you with nature by taking you into a relaxing and peaceful redwood forest where you can balance your chakras and get your yoga on with Paige Willis.

Duo Packs: Your New Fitness Studio

Moving your body is a key part of getting your heart pumping, whether it’s dancing, punching, or even swinging a (virtual) golf club, and we love to celebrate movement in all its forms. That’s why we’ve put together Oculus Duo Packs, pairs of VR fitness experiences and games that go great together and help you get an even better workout. Look for these in the Quest Store:

Play and Stay Active Pack

Stay alert for evil pirates and dance while you mow down bad guys in the ’80s arcade-style Space Pirate Trainer DX and the multiplayer shooter Hyper Dash. This pack is available until 10AM PT on January 14.

Challenge Your Sports Rival Pack

You could be the one wearing the green jacket if you master your drives and putts in GOLF+, and avoid the gutters while you roll your perfect game in ForeVR Bowl. This pack is available until 10AM PT on January 14.

A New World-Class Meditation Studio: Hoame

Getting your heart rate up is great for your health, and so is bringing it way down. And what better way to do that than to tap into the calming power of a boutique meditation studio right from your own home?

With the brand-new Quest 2 app Hoame, you can pop into a studio class or unplug from the stress of daily life with an elevated and peaceful experience. Meditation never has to be intimidating again, as a diverse set of expert instructors guide you through more than 15 styles of meditation. No matter who you are, there’s a mindfulness practice that’s just right for you. Click here to learn more.

No matter the reason, with Oculus Move, you can set VR fitness goals, including weekly goals, and see how you’ve improved over time.

And if you want to see how you’re doing in real time, just bring up an in-game overlay through your Quick Settings or with voice commands by saying “Open Move Overlay.”
