Earth Day’s coming up later this month, but there’s already plenty to celebrate in VR. Today, we’re highlighting apps, experiences, and events to help you explore the wonders of the world and put conservation in perspective.
Produced by Red Bull Media House, Jonathan Griffith Productions, and Oculus, Matterhorn VR – The Summit is a seven-minute 8K 3D 360° film following Red Bull athlete Jeremie Heitz and his skiing partner Samuel Anthamatten as they climb the Matterhorn. Come along for a two-day climb up the infamous Hornli Ridge to the summit of one of the world’s most iconic peaks. Alongside the dizzying heights, you’ll take in a night under the stars, a sunrise to remember, and a panoramic view from the summit.

Available on the Quest and Rift Platforms, SPHERES lets you uncover the hidden songs of the cosmos through a powerful, immersive spectacle that fuses art with science. Composed of three chapters, SPHERES is directed by Eliza McNitt, produced by Darren Aronofsky and Ari Handel, and narrated by Millie Bobby Brown, Jessica Chastain, and Patti Smith.
Finally, set off as a NatGeo photographer on an expedition to Machu Picchu in National Geographic Explore VR on the Quest Platform.
