The holidays are upon us, and we’re celebrating by introducing Quest Day! Beginning at 9:00 am PT today, you can tune in at questday.fb.com for a series of segments hosted by an outlandish fictional Meta employee, Dr. 6DOF, and his costumed sidekick Questy. During the show, we’ll unveil a new over-the-top “invention” every 30 minutes through 11:30 am PT, with a corresponding giveaway of some exclusive Quest Day merch designed to celebrate our community.
Drop culture is seemingly everywhere, and while we’re a little late to the party, we thought we’d have some fun with it. Far from actual products, our Quest Day “inventions” are fully-functional prototypes inspired by the VR community’s passion and ingenuity. And they integrate with Quest 2 headsets in unexpected and tactile ways. While these inventions may not make it into customers’ hands, each reveal will be accompanied by the opportunity to snag limited-edition gifts produced exclusively for Quest Day. Each “drop” is inspired by different segments of the Quest 2 community and speaks to their unique VR needs and interests.
“The Quest community is one of the most passionate fan bases around,” says Meta Quest Creative Director Tony Kalathara. “They’re constantly coming up with their own mods, inventions, and suggestions that creatively build on the already immersive experience Quest offers. We were inspired to bring those kinds of ideas to life, plus give back some love in the form of a holiday showcase for them: Quest Day.”
We partnered with creative technology and experience design company Deeplocal to bring Quest Day to life. “What we did was really look at Quest 2 users as more than just gamers,” says Deeplocal Creative Director Colin Miller. “We wanted to tap into their everyday affinities and other passions, as well as the broad variety of different experience categories available on Quest 2, and integrate that into the VR experience. So it was important to make these inventions real, working prototypes designed with real Quest fans in mind.”
Gifts are limited to one (1) per drop, per household. Gift quantities are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Eligible participants must be 18 or older and reside in the US.
