Later this year, inXile entertainment and Thirdverse Inc. will release Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds, a competitive shooter bolstered by inXile’s talent for rich storytelling. Who wants to wait until the end of the year, though? Certainly not us. Starting today, you’ll be able to squad up and hop into the Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds open beta on the Rift Platform.
But this isn’t just a try-before-you-buy scenario—inXile’s unique “Play-to-Own” campaign rewards beta participants with free copies of the finished game. Visit the Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds website and link your Oculus account (or Steam account) to join the beta and for the opportunity to win.
From there, it’s as easy as playing 10 multiplayer matches. Win or lose, the first 3,000 people to achieve that milestone each week during the beta will receive a free copy of Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds when it releases later this year. As inXile Studio Head Brian Fargo told us in July, "We want to reward those who are playing early and often, and our hope is they’ll become our most active supporters and players over the long term.”
The beta ends October 19, so you’ll have plenty of chances between now and then to get in on the action. Grab your friends and get ready to explore Antarctica, battling 10 players to a side through an abandoned military base—or maybe we should say “semi-abandoned,” given the terrifying biomechanical creatures that have taken up residence in humanity’s absence.
Fend off both this rogue force and the enemy team with meticulously detailed weapons, including futuristic pistols, assault rifles, and more. The open beta lets players experiment with a broad swath of Frostpoint VR’s arsenal across four maps and three game modes, including “Attack and Defend,” new for the open beta. Whether you end up with a free copy of Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds or not, it’s bound to be a good time. Give it a shot!
Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds releases on the Rift Platform later this year and will also be available to Oculus Quest owners who own an Oculus Link cable and compatible PC. Click here for more details.
