The industry’s annual awards ceremony, The Game Awards, aired today live from Los Angeles and featured a litany of new game reveals, star-studded appearances, and exciting announcements. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, it was a massive celebration of video games for the year.

But beyond the announcements and reveals that made the headlines, we’re thrilled that Capcom’s survival horror masterpiece, Resident Evil 4—an exclusive to VR on Quest 2—took home the honors for Best VR/AR game of the year! RE4 has become the fastest-selling app in the history of Quest**, and we’re honored that the game industry’s most discerning minds seem to love it as much as you do.

In Resident Evil 4, you step into the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy as a special agent for the U.S. government on his mission to rescue the US President’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult, now in first-person for the very first time. Find your way through a rural European village, come face to face with challenging enemies, and uncover secrets and gameplay that have revolutionized the entire survival horror genre. Battle horrific creatures infected by the Las Plagas parasite and face off against aggressive enemies including mind-controlled villagers as you discover their connection to Los Illuminados, the cult behind the abduction.

IGN gave Resident Evil 4 on Quest 2 a 9 out of 10 in its review dubbing it “one of the best versions” of the critically-acclaimed classic. And arriving as a free update to the game next year, The Mercenaries, a fan-favorite mode, will expand the adventure with killing a never-ending horde of Ganados to earn points before the evacuation chopper arrives in the allotted time.

Joining Resident Evil 4 on the list of nominees in the Best VR/AR game were Rift platform exclusive Lone Echo 2, as well as Sniper Elite VR and I Expect You To Die 2—both of which are available on the Quest and Rift platforms. For the full breakdown of nominees, you can see the original nominations announcement here.

If you haven’t dived in for yourself yet, take on the iconic role of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 4 today on your Quest 2 for $39.99 USD.
