Picture this: You’re perched on the edge of a balcony overlooking a courtyard full of Nazi soldiers. It’s the 1940s and you’re an Italian partisan fighting in the resistance armed with your trusty sniper rifle ready to take aim at the Axis forces. If that sounds like a thrilling way to spend an evening, then look no further than Sniper Elite VR, which just launched today on the Oculus Quest and Rift Platforms.
Sniper Elite VR is published by Rebellion, the studio behind the mainline Sniper Elite and Zombie Army franchises, as well as the creators of VR classic tank combat game Battlezone, with development handled collaboratively between Coatsink (Jurassic World Aftermath and Onward for Quest) and Just Add Water (Oddworld and Doctor Who).
This adventure puts you in the well-worn boots of a seasoned veteran on the ground during iconic battles from World War II. You’ll wage war against fascism with a massive arsenal of weapons ranging from automatic weapons and sniper rifles to grenades, sidearms, and more. Missions will require you to adapt to your surroundings and think strategically. Will you sulk in the shadows and stealthily take out enemies from a distance, or run in guns-blazing to give it everything you’ve got?
Naturally, the iconic slow-motion X-ray killshot camera is fully intact in Sniper Elite VR as well. During certain moments if your aim is true and lines up just right, you’ll get an up-close look at exactly what happens when you nail that perfect shot.
