If you’ve been following along our workout guides, by now you may have covered a cardio session with Workout of the Week #1: Full-Body Focus, strengthened your arms and shoulders with Workout of the Week #2: Arms Focus, and even tried your skills as a pro athlete with Bonus Workout of the Week: Sports Focus. That leaves another major muscle group: legs!
This week, we’re challenging you to hit 20 Move Minutes with a focus on your lower body. No matter which game or app you choose for your legs workout, Oculus Move will automatically track your progress. Find Oculus Move in your library.
Remember that Quest’s sensors are only on your head and hands, so we can’t track your lower body movement as accurately as your upper body when calculating Move Minutes. If you want to kick things up a notch, check out our included suggestions for more advanced users who want to take their VR workout to the next level.
Pistol Whip on the Oculus Quest and Rift Platforms is a favorite for getting you into deep squats while feeling like John Wick. To make sure you’re getting a legs workout, go to the “Modifiers” on the left menu and select “No Fail” or “Dual Wield” and don’t forget to squat or lunge to dodge the bullets flying at you. If you’re ready to level up your legs workout, add the “Vengeance” or “Deadeye” mod.
For the freestyle dancers out there, Synth Riders on the Quest and Rift Platforms will have you making moves! To keep your heartrate up between songs, select the “Random Song” button so you don’t miss a beat. If you’re looking for the ultimate leg day, go to the “Settings” menu on the top of the center panel, select “Calibration,” and lower your height by 0.5 – 1 foot.
Last by not least, walk right into a boxing class from home in FitXR on the Quest Platform and BOXVR on the Rift Platform. When you choose a class, make sure you’ve selected “Squats” to keep the focus on legs this week. Today, the FitXR team is launching Week 5 of their New Year challenge, and this week is full of Box classes. For you FitXR super fans, the team is launching two “Absolute” DLC packs for both Box and Dance on January 28, featuring lots of squats, lunges, and sidesteps to strengthen your legs.
Oculus Move helps you keep track of the calories you burn and how long you’ve been physically active across any game or app in VR. Set goals for yourself and track your progress over time.
