Oculus is seeking talented Systems Engineers who are passionate about systems infrastructure engineering. As a Systems Engineer, you own and support many of Oculus’ core infrastructure systems and have a direct impact on systems design, enhancements, and support practices. Our talented employees are dedicated to the development of cutting-edge technology; therefore, our ideal candidates will have laser focus and strong attention to detail to execute systems engineering needs with great precision. Engineers with expertise in storage, virtualization, messaging, open source technologies, data networking, and back office foundational infrastructure.


  • Build, scale, and secure Oculus corporate infrastructure, focusing on both Windows and Linux environments
  • Combine open-source and commercial technologies to build services that will have an impact on the business
  • Leverage the scale and complexity of the larger facebook.com infrastructure to solve problems for all of Oculus
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain servers and other critical infrastructure to support all Oculus teams
  • Perform server performance tuning and capacity planning alongside Facebook monitoring and platform teams
  • Collaborate with project managers and 3rd party/in-house developers on unique technical projects
  • Produce systems that are scalable, automated, and well-documented, and train others to take on operations
  • Maintain technical documentation library and internal wikis

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • 2+ years working in a large-scale server administration or data-center support role
  • 2+ years System Engineering experience with Windows Server (2008R2/2012) or Linux Server (CentOS, Ubuntu) and associated technology support
  • Understanding of different protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, IPTables, Active Directory, WSUS, WDS, etc.)
  • Understanding of network protocols and network design principles
  • Experience with open source monitoring and methodologies (Zabbix, OpenNMS, Nagios)
  • Understanding of Datacenter technologies (SAN/CDN)
