LED Research Scientist

Oculus Research, the research division of Oculus (Facebook), is currently seeking an experienced LED technology research scientist. The role involves undertaking in-house research and working with our partners to support the development of small and efficient LED devices. Specific emphasis on LED modeling and epitaxial growth would be a major advantage. The job is particularly suited to an individual who wishes to further develop their career in a vibrant, multidisciplinary and fast-moving research environment.   Both positions are full-time positions based in our Cork office, Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise all the way through engineering phases of LEDs (wafer/epitaxial, device design, fabrication process) including the device physics, simulation and testing for red, green and blue LEDs (or Lasers)
  • Fabrication of semiconductor-based devices in a clean room environment
  • Process development & optimization, process troubleshooting
  • Delivery of devices for the needs of internal and external projects
  • Documentation and control responsibility for all processes and procedures related to the position
  • Designing DOEs, analyzing the data and reporting the key results during meetings
  • Promote and support innovation to facilitate IP generation as appropriate
  • Interface with suppliers and partners, from a technical and project management perspective

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Micro-electronics, Physics or Material Science
  • 5+ years’ experience in III-V semiconductor (GaN/GaAs) processing
  • Expertise in Micro and nano-fabrication of optoelectronic devices such as red, green and blue LEDs and lasers
  • Strong background in semiconductor physics & materials science
  • Broad expertise in material & device characterization
  • Hands on approach to device fabrication
