The goal of virtual reality is to convince your senses that you have been truly transported to another place, and doing so requires a deep, scientific understanding of the human inside the system. As an Architecture Researcher for Oculus in Menlo Park, you will apply the knowledge and skills of perceptual science to help define the future of our hardware and software. From optics to user interface, you will develop a wide breadth of experiments and metrics to grow our understanding of human perception and physical comfort while using VR. Oculus is committed to creating an engaging and immersive virtual reality experience that users can enjoy comfortably for hours. Your research will help guide our product teams towards achieving that goal by defining product requirements, comparing and benchmarking prototypes, and informing the multidimensional considerations that contribute to the design of our hardware and software. Preferred areas of specialization in perceptual science or human factors: low-level perceptual mechanisms; high-level perceptual processing; ergonomics of head-mounted displays, consumer displays, or optical instruments
