Oculus Research is building on our expertise in virtual reality system to begin the development of augmented reality (AR). This moves us from a technology whose primary application has been in games and entertainment to one that could replace the smart phone and computers as the primary device for communication and work as well as entertainment. We are currently seeking innovative interns with a passion for applied and fundamental research in cognitive science to focus on the development of AR systems. If we think of the AR device as tool to improve human performance in a variety of tasks, primary questions for cognitive science are: what are the core limitations of the human cognitive system that the device will be used to overcome and how should we design the device to overcome those limitations? Researchers with a focus on computational models of memory, reinforcement learning, attention and decision making would be an ideal fit for our ongoing research.
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. They provide a unique opportunity to work with experts from the behavioral sciences, computer science, engineering and physics.
