Our Zurich Core Tech team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Oculus products. From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, Core Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.

As a Test Engineer at Oculus, you will wield the tools to build our bridge to the VR universe. You will be responsible for electrical and mechanical labs and use them to design prototype hardware and test fixtures. You will commission, maintain, and operate measurement and test equipment. You will be involved in validation and testing of our latest prototype assemblies, processing test data, and documenting the results.


  • Manage and maintain our state-of-the-art electrical and mechanical labs.
  • Commission, interface, validate and operate complex measurement and test equipment.
  • Develop test procedures and collect datasets.
  • Validation, testing, and benchmarking of virtual reality prototypes.
  • Post-processing of test data, documentation.
  • Develop and fabricate electrical and mechanical prototype fixtures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a BSc, MSc, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics or a similar field
  • Proficient in the operation and validation of test equipment.
  • A track record of creativity and rigorous attention to detail in making complex measurements.
  • Experience in electrical and mechanical prototyping, assembly (soldering, CAD, etc.).
  • Experience in data processing and analysis using C++, MATLAB or Python.
  • Good programming skills (C++) are important to interface prototypes and test equipment, and to collaborate efficiently with the team.
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Must be available to start employment on or after March 1st, 2018
  • Able to obtain work authorization in Switzerland beginning in 2018
