Research Intern, Software Engineering (PhD University Student)

Oculus Research is world leader in the advancement of virtual and augmented reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative software engineering interns with a passion for exploring the future of VR and AR technology. Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. **_Responsibilities_**


  • Design, develop, debug and implement VR/AR algorithms
  • Prototype, build and analyze experimental systems
  • Collaborate with and support other software engineers, hardware engineers and research scientists
  • Regularly communicate progress and results, including a final presentation to your team
  • Research topics include (but are not limited to) the following areas: - Graphics - Computer Vision - Machine Learning - Optimization

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Applied Math or a related STEM field
  • Currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
  • 4+ years experience with modern C/C++, including low-level debugging and performance tuning
  • 2+ years experience with 3D mathematics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2018

Preferred Qualifications

  • Emphasis in one or more of the following areas is desirable: graphics, game development, computer vision, machine learning, physics
