Hardware Engineer

Infrastructure | Redmond, WA

Oculus Research, the research division of Oculus (Facebook), is looking for a world-class ASIC/FPGA engineer to lead the hardening of various computer vision algorithms for SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) implementation on our next-generation AR/VR consumer product platforms that will provide breakthrough simulated reality user experiences. The successful candidate will be required to design custom ICs/ASICs in close collaboration with the groups developing the SLAM algorithms, system software, sensors and SoCs.

  • Collaborate closely with the SLAM algorithm/computer vision researchers and the SoC designers to support the realization of the necessary hardware to enable innovative AR/VR experiences
  • Support all phases of Silicon SoC development from a SLAM and computer vision perspective - from early definition through specification, architecture, layout and production
  • Design, simulate, and test of an ASIC to realize the SLAM algorithms
  • Develop a FPGA test platform to test, develop and optimize the full system
  • Contribute to execution of our silicon technology / compute roadmap to make advances in performance, power consumption, and form factor
  • Assess and recommend emerging technologies through close partnership with external suppliers
  • Employ the scientific method to debug, diagnose and drive the resolution of complex, cross-disciplinary system issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in electrical or computer engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of experience in digital/analog IC design
  • User of Cadence IC design tools and high speed simulation tools like: SPICE, Hyperlynx, or others.
  • Experience in FPGA programming.
  • Design experience with GPU ASICs.
  • Experience in both ASIC / SoC design methodologies.
  • Experience in SLAM realization and the associated algorithms
  • Demonstrated ability to cross multi-disciplinary boundaries to drive optimal system solutions
