Infrastructure Manager

Enterprise Engineering | Redmond, WA

Responsible for the management, strategy and execution of Enterprise infrastructure for Oculus Research in multiple locations within the US and internationally. Proactively analyzes the needs of different research groups and determines the best course of action to meet business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems. Develops long term roadmaps and oversees technical projects in alignment with organizational goals and manages the research in terms of selection of Enterprise equipment, applications, and equipment to meet these goals, driving the process from inception through deployment ensuring that everything is delivered on time and fully functional based off of research needs. This role will work directly with Enterprise leadership and functional teams throughout Facebook driving resourcing, procurement, networking, deployment, and sustained engineering of Oculus Research projects. The Manager of Enterprise Engineering ensures vendor security and works directly with facilities teams on future buildouts to meet cutting edge research needs for all Oculus Research sites.


  • Manage engineers working with the Enterprise engineering teams on all aspects of network and server deployments. Augment and enable software infrastructure to manage, maintain and track, large-scale data collection
  • Works directly with research teams to proactively determine Enterprise needs in the short, mid, and long term ranges. Analyzes complex business needs presented by Oculus Research and quickly drives consensus throughout all teams involved to deliver optimal technical solutions in a timely fashion.
  • Uses knowledge of research projects and the future direction of AR and VR within the organization to predict future needs. Leverages these predictions to gain buy in from all necessary parties to ensure that Enterprise proactively supports the needs of Oculus Research for the long term.
  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
  • Identify the need for upgrades, configurations or new systems ensuring timely and smooth deployment. Purchase efficient and cost effective technological equipment and software
  • Ensure that the Enterprise team is performing liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications and/or trouble shooting.
  • Directs implementation and execution of new/upgraded information systems via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability.
  • Evaluates and implements Enterprise procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost containment. Build relationships with vendors and assist in creating cost-efficient contracts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years’ management experience in an Enterprise environment
  • 2+ years’ experience working with Linux systems
  • 5+ years experience interacting with all aspects of the business including internal and external vendors
  • Experience working in an environment with multiple internal customers
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of Enterprise systems and their specifications.
  • Experience with computer systems including hardware, software, networks etc.
  • Experience in controlling a multi-million dollar information technology budget
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Programming, Computer Science or related field
