Research Intern, Tracking and Sensor Fusion (PhD University Student)

Internship - Engineering, Tech & Design | Redmond, WA

Oculus is a world leader in the design of virtual and augmented reality systems. We are currently seeking innovative researchers with a passion for technology to develop next generation tracking and sensor fusion strategies for our research location in Redmond, WA. This project will investigate hand and wrist pose tracking using various sensing modalities and sensor fusion approaches. We seek a PhD candidate with a strong background in software engineering, estimation, optimization, and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance transparent haptic displays and soft robotics actuators
  • Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and artists to prototype hardware and software solutions, and run experiments to advance the project

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD candidate in computer science, electrical engineering, estimation and optimization, or related technical field.
  • Strong experience and expertise in software engineering using common languages such as C++ and python.
  • Experience using machine learning tools such as TensorFlow or Torch.
  • Excellent research skills involving defining problems, exploring solutions, and analyzing results.
  • Strong communication and personal management skills.
