Manager, Advanced Manufacturing Operations

As the Manager of Advanced Manufacturing at Oculus, you will take a critical role in bringing VR products to our customers. You will drive manufacturing operations research and development to solve complex problems that directly impact final product quality, cost, and delivery of Oculus products. You will define and implement best manufacturing practices to the design of our products. You will be a key member of the Technical Operations team and will partner closely with Hardware Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering and our Manufacturing partners providing early and ongoing manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are manufacturing-capable from concept, to mass production and through end of life. Areas of responsibilities include maximizing yields, designing complex alignment fixtures, reducing cost and cycle time, identifying areas to introduce automation based on quality and cost requirements, and contributing heavily to the design of the FATP (final assembly, test, and pack-out) line. Ideal candidates are those with experience in bringing products from concept stage through design, development, validation, and mass production. Candidates must have strong manufacturing processes and materials selection experience which would lead to best in class products. This must also be complemented with strong interpersonal and communication skills, keen focus on driving business results, ability to work in ambiguous / less defined environments, and strong willingness to collaborate and optimize overall business objectives.


  • Lead manufacturing development for new Oculus hardware products from EVT builds through mass-production.
  • Serve as a resident expert in design for manufacturability (DFM) processes, leading DFM reviews with engineering leads and signing off on final processes.
  • Contribute to the creation of technical assembly specifications.
  • Work with design engineers to optimize part design and production processes, including assembly line setup.
  • Collaborate with designers and other engineers to identify challenges and offer solutions.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership and direction.
  • Work with global supply base partners and particularly in Asia and Europe.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience driving manufacturing design for new products
  • Background driving China-based and Europe-based manufacturers, remotely and in-person
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings
  • Ability to drive materials and manufacturing process selection to meet quality, reliability, functional, and cosmetic standards.
  • Experience automating manufacturing fixtures for part alignment or measurement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in 3D modeling and statistical software
  • Experience with optical systems and alignment
  • Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills
  • Six Sigma black belt certification
