Research Scientist, 3D Reconstruction (PhD University Grad)

Software Engineering | Redmond, WA

You have expertise in 3D reconstruction with a deep C++ skillset and a passion for rapidly prototyping systems to prove out your ideas. At Oculus Research, you'll lead cutting-edge research projects that redefine the state-of-the-art in 3D reconstruction and its applications in Augmented Reality (AR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Within the Oculus Research Surreal Vision team, the aim of this role focuses on tackling the most challenging problems in 3D reconstruction today, devising novel solutions and exploiting the advantages of custom hardware platforms and modern machine learning (ML) techniques. The role requires a PhD in 3D reconstruction, computer vision or a related field with a strong background in optimization, modeling, analysis, and system building.

  • Lead the development of new techniques to solve some of 3D reconstruction's hardest problems.
  • Work across the full stack and harness the power of custom hardware developments.
  • Interact with other teams to integrate practical solutions into prototype AR and AI platforms.
  • Develop a long term research road map that goes far beyond the state of the art.
