Associate General Counsel, Oculus Sales & Marketing

Oculus seeks an Associate General Counsel for its sales and marketing business groups, primarily focusing on sales. Oculus invents, manufactures and sells industry leading virtual reality headsets, and operates a global virtual reality content and social platform. We work in creative ways to spread these innovative products and technologies on a global scale, and this position provides legal advice for these varying marketing and sales initiatives. Success in this position will require applying a practical and well balanced perspective to legal issues that arise when marketing, selling, and distributing new and innovative products and services. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues in a fast-paced start-up environment, as Oculus leads the field of virtual reality.


  • Provide practical and expert legal guidance to the Oculus sales, retail, and ecommerce teams, while also providing support for other marketing and promotional initiatives
  • Support general business objectives related to sales and marketing
  • Influence and build relationships with executives, product teams and peers across Oculus and Facebook
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts at Oculus and Facebook to analyze and communicate legal risks

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D. degree with membership in at least 1 state bar
  • 8+ years of sales transaction and operations legal experience in-house and/or at law firms
  • Experience with retail, ecommerce, and other B2B sales, as well as sales channel operations/programs and consumer promotions
  • Industry experience and legal knowledge in evaluating, addressing, and advising on sales issues – including antitrust and competition, pricing and promotions, and direct consumer sales
  • Experience with consumer products, and emerging technology products and services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building influence with creative and enthusiastic sales and marketing teams and executives, and advising those teams directly
  • Experience with consumer electronic products and connected devices
  • International sales channel experience
  • Prior in-house and law firm experience
