As a senior Research Scientist within the team building prototype microLED based display modules, your job will be figuring out how to build it. You’ll be a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team contributing to our efforts to gain a scientific understanding of haptics, human perception, audio, input, computer vision, optics, display technology, and whatever else we dream up to create the ultimate AR experience. You will work closely with internal Oculus teams, academic institutions, external partners, and vendors to help define both system level and device level requirements and deliverables.

  • Own the design of the microLED display platform from an optical, electrical and thermal perspective with specific emphasis on maximizing performance while taking account of system constraints.
  • Work with the overall system architects to define the specifications, architecture and future roadmap for AR display hardware prototypes.
  • Provide platform level technical specifications to LED, backplane and driver experts in the wider team.
  • Contribute strongly to future conceptual studies at overall system level.
  • Define platform level test and reliability requirements and work with the team to ensure successful realization.
  • Coordinate technical communication between internal and external teams.
  • Identify, exploit and provide technical leadership to external resources to achieve project goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or physics.
  • At least 10 years of experience as a senior researcher or designer in hardware development of solid state device based displays and/or optical projection systems.
