Global Retail Strategy Lead

Oculus and Building 8 are looking for a creative, business minded and highly talented marketer to lead our channel marketing and retail strategy planning efforts in our Menlo Park office. Reporting to the Director of Global Retail, the Retail Strategy Lead (RSL) will work closely with sales and marketing across all channels, which includes territory expansion plans, management of channel marketing budget including promotions, demo staffing, and co-op media/marketing planning with our retail partners.


  • Devise and ensure the effective delivery of Oculus channel marketing strategies and values across the key regions within agreed budgets and KPI’s
  • Localize, manage and track worldwide channel marketing plans whilst controlling the channel marketing budget and ensure cost effective implementation
  • Upload local consumer and market insights to Product Management in order to create a locally effective Go to Market plans
  • Develop global launch plan strategies and analyze new territory expansion opportunities for each product launch.
  • Recruit, develop and manage experiential and channel marketing agencies and contractors by territory - setting objectives and measuring results
  • Develop local insight into the brand and the value propositions for Oculus and the product portfolio, and communicate through all B2C and B2B touch points and channels
  • Appoint as necessary the appropriate regional research agencies and subsequently manage the local market analysis and consumer research, feeding back to MPK intelligence and insight
  • Develop the strategic planning and implementation of the global demo program in conjunction with Channel Marketing leads.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in both business planning and tactical execution, with understanding of the various tools available for social media engagement with consumers and trade
  • Demonstrable experience in planning and managing marketing budgets and product P&Ls
  • Communication and presentation skills and business acumen that reflects the Oculus values
  • Experience in innovation and the opportunities presented by disruptive technologies and social media
  • 10+ years in a high-level marketing role, with a clear record of achievement and success in technology based channel, consumer product marketing and/or product management
  • Demonstrable experience of go to market planning and execution across online and traditional retail channels
  • Proven knowledge in selling consumer goods within both e-tail and retail capacity with experience of the leading operators globally including Amazon, and the leading video game/Consumer Electronic specialists in each region
  • Experience working with retailers
  • Experience in the consumer goods or consumer electronics industry
