Join a team of designers who are passionate about creating a cutting-edge VR experience and establishing Oculus as an industry leader. As a Motion Designer, you will be involved in every aspect of the product development process, from conceptualizing the next generation of the VR platform to designing incremental features and implement amazing environments for our first-party virtual reality apps. You will support our growing portfolio of products and features. While working with a wider team of 3D generalists, your responsibilities will include 3D and 2D modeling and animation and creating motion ideation around content creation tools in 3D and 2D.


  • Execute on adding thoughtful motion and illustration to Oculus products
  • Produce strong conceptual motion graphics that are engaging and unique
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment with a design team including 3D generalists, product designers, coders, and product managers
  • Experiment with different creative techniques, tools to mock-up, and prototype ideas quickly
  • Generate ideas, inspire your teammates, give and receive feedback, and critique respectfully
  • Able to meet multiple deadlines, prioritize work, and keep projects moving forward
  • Synthesize broad, ambiguous business goals and work with the Product Design team to create environments for VR
  • Take creative direction and translate it into your design concepts
  • Give and solicit real-time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
  • Partner with PMs, engineers, researchers, and content strategy, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch, as well as post-launch design support
  • Quickly solve issues with your cross-functional leads
  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
  • Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working in an agency, an in-house team, an editorial environment, AAA game titles or equivalent film projects with experience in two or more disciplines: illustration, motion graphics, animation or video editing
  • A link to an online portfolio showcasing your work (include link on your resume)
  • Experience working on projects such as storyboards, narrative, advertising campaigns, product and branding assignments
  • Experience with visual storytelling including editorial illustration
  • Experience using After Effects, Cinema 4D plus Z-Brush and Final Cut Pro
  • Experience collaborating and reiterating based on the team's needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Portfolio should exhibit conceptual ability with a contextually thoughtful aesthetic
  • Experience in film editing
  • Experience working with Houdini/Maya/Modo/Max
  • Ability to build and optimize assets between PC (Rift) and mobile systems (Gear VR) while maintaining visual fidelity
  • 3D art skills for creating environment concept art
  • Prior technical art experience
  • Prior VFX experience
  • Prior virtual reality experience
