Computer Vision Research Scientist, SLAM

You have a background in compute infrastructure and a strong interest in 3D computer vision/machine perception. You have solid C++ programming knowledge and experience, as well as broad knowledge and the ability to independently identify and pick up the right tool/approach for the task at hand. You are excited to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly innovative environment. At Oculus Research, you'll work on cutting-edge research projects that explore the future of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Work with a world-class team experimenting with bold ideas in areas including computer vision, 3D graphics and machine learning. Help to evaluate complex systems, analyze hardware-, algorithm- and parameter-choices and to take cutting-edge research from a lab environment into millions of user's hands!


  • Develop scalable computing, benchmarking, analysis and regression testing systems on Facebook infrastructure for cutting-edge 3D Computer Vision research and development, supporting a variety of use-cases and scaling to of machines
  • Develop automated data collection, validation, aggregation, analysis and visualization tools
  • Develop and implement metrics and approaches to identify patterns, corner- and failure-cases
  • Learn constantly, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • MSc or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field
  • Hands-on experience with 3D Computer Vision/SLAM/Tracking
  • 3+ years experience in C++ and working with codebase
  • Experience working across different scripting and programming languages (python, bash), and to identify the right tool for the task at hand
  • Experience in Linux

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some math and algorithm knowledge, ability to learn and pick up concepts quickly
  • Experience with 3D geometry, state estimation and computer vision algorithms
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, and/or on research projects in fields such as computer vision, graphics, robotics, machine learning or related
