Our Zurich Core Tech team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Oculus products. From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, Core Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.

As an experienced software engineer, you will be working on the full Oculus software stack, from high level applications down to the underlying hardware. You will be working on cutting edge VR technology, OS/driver level solutions and optimizations to improve the performance and quality of virtual reality experiences. The ideal candidate is an experienced mobile/embedded systems engineer with C/C++ programming skills, and interest in virtual reality.


  • Streamline our embedded & mobile software for high performance virtual reality.
  • Implement innovative new system components to improve the quality and performance of virtual reality experiences.
  • Design and implement new driver extensions for improved performance and robustness.
  • Maintain high coding standards and cross-functional interaction with other Oculus teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of C and C++ programming experience.
  • Android OS, SELinux or embedded linux experience.
  • Experience with Linux kernel development.
  • Experience with multi-threaded software design.
  • Experience writing unit tests and testable code.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science.
  • Experience with Android system services and APIs.
  • Experience in Virtual Reality, sensor input or display technologies.
  • Experience with mobile CPU/GPU programming, 3D graphics.
  • Experience with OS internals and kernel development/debugging for Android and/or Linux.
