Software Engineer, Social Platform SDK

Virtual Reality will reshape how we experience entertainment, explore the world and socialize with others. The Oculus Social Platform lays the foundation for this social VR future. We build the key pieces that allow developers to focus on creating rich experiences and allows end users to move seamlessly between those experiences. As a member of the Social Platform SDK team you’ll make the lives of developers easier by designing reliable, scalable services that solve real world problems.


  • Build solid, reliable and scalable online services for VR application developers
  • Partner with teams across Oculus to build and improve the services which add value to both developers and end users
  • Use feedback from our customers to improve existing services
  • Execute on a vision that brings great virtual reality content and applications to the Oculus platform

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of C++ experience
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience approaching feature requests from the perspective of both end users and developers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of matchmaking, multiplayer networking and online social interactions
  • Experience coding online platforms/services (i.e. Steam, Xbox Live or PSN) or a relevant middleware
  • Experience of integrating online services into games/applications
  • Experience in Unreal or Unity engines and knowledge in additional engines
  • Experience shipping an SDK or open source software used by developers other than yourself
