Optical Test & Calibration Engineer

As the Optical Test & Calibration Engineer, you will be part of the System Integration and Test team supporting all phases of the AR Product development process. You will own the calibration test technology development to ensure stable production implementation. In this role you will own development of test stations and accompanying software infrastructure that calibrates and tests imaging systems. You will pull mechanical, optical, electronic and algorithmic needs of systems, working closely with researchers and other engineering disciplines to understand the data that is needed and how that data can best be obtained. You will drive test fixture design with manufacturing partners and develop a manufacturing adoptable software and automation solution.


  • Develop an end-to-end software and automation environment that includes hardware test flows, robotics control, data capture and processing, integration of advanced algorithms, networking, storage management, security etc.
  • Scope, schedule and organize, and perform testing in a timely manner and deliver robust test results to support development and evaluation.
  • Develop and modify test sequences including measurement and calibration algorithms.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, debug guides and validation reports for test solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and debug test systems and automation solutions from a software and hardware perspective in full autonomy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with imaging systems and camera technology
  • 5+ years experience in developing test solutions at systems level and automation
  • Experience in real time systems development, bring up, and testing prototype solutions, camera testing methodology, and production-level testing environments
  • Experience in imaging processing or software development, programming experience with C++/Matlab/Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or equivalent experience
  • Experience with camera/sensor calibration flows
  • Experience transitioning test and automation solutions from R&D to low rate initial production
  • Experience with cross-functional precision electro-optical systems
  • Experience with robotics system design and programming
  • Experience designing and executing development projects with a design of experiment approach (DOE) to service, troubleshoot, and solve engineering problems
  • Experience developing hardware test solutions utilizing robotics/precision motion system design and programming with both internal and third-party
