Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is dedicated to the research and development required to bring virtual and augmented reality to billions of people around the world. At the Pittsburgh lab, we aspire to a vision of social VR and AR, where people can interact with each other across distances in a way that is indistinguishable from in-person interactions.
We are looking for a Hardware Engineering Manager (HWEM) for our office in Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate will have a background and hands on experience in mechanical engineer with solid formal or practical experience in electrical systems. As HWEM, you will be in charge of building up a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and define and implement a workflow for the development of the next generation of custom wearable capture systems.
You will be responsible for the intake of requirements from researchers and engineers, manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders. Communication and technical aptitude are critical in this role as you will be the liaison between researchers, mechanical, electrical, and software engineers and you will assist with determining project priority and feasibility.
As an expert in your engineering field you will be in charge of the electro-mechanical architecture, owning the ME design review, and supervise the EE design and architecture of our custom wearable capture systems.
This is an intellectually complex and operationally challenging role that will afford the opportunity to lead the development of technologies that have the potential to change the way humans communicate and interact regardless of distance.
