Commercial and Sourcing Manager, AR/VR Accessories

As part of our accessories team, you will be responsible for identifying and building relationships with OEMs, ODMs, and companies in the startup community that are developing accessories for our VR, AR, and Portal core products.
You’ll be part of product group that is focused on rapid development and execution of accessory products through a combination of in-house teams and overseeing external partners.
You will work directly with our advanced manufacturing, quality, reliability, manufacturing test, hardware engineering, product safety and compliance, as well as corporate social responsibility teams to ensure the successful execution of our products.
The focus will be to launch high-quality products with a sharp focus on cost and schedule.


  • Develop an accessories category sourcing strategy, and cultivate suppliers that are capable of meeting AR/VR’s current and future technical and business requirements
  • Travel to meet with OEMs, ODMs, contract manufacturers, and startups that may be partner candidates to design or product AR/VR accessories
  • Work closely with the Hardware teams (comprised of industrial design, soft goods, mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers) developing accessory products from concept to production
  • Evaluate current development or licensing partnership opportunities
  • Structure agreements with partners that insure compliance with our launch date goals, volumes, costs, quality, reliability and social responsibility
  • Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into the AR/VR supply chain
  • Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage the RFQ process, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with engineering, quality, and other cross-functional partners
  • You will work closely with external development partners and Oculus Business Development teams to bring both Oculus and Oculus Certified products to market
  • Negotiate agreements with suppliers to establish best-in-class pricing, flexibility, quality, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms
  • Drive cross-functional program deliverables by working with other development teams including operations, marketing, compliance, sales, and customer support
  • Execution to Product Development Process and all associated Phase Gates. Ensure program documents are complete, current and available for staff and leadership review
  • Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges, long lead time, single source, and any supply issues
  • Influence product manufacturability, testability, serviceability, reliability, flexibility and cost effectiveness by coordinating cross-functional teams during early development and ramp Identify and evaluate Ideal partner selection for future products
  • Contribute to Market Research and Business Intelligence efforts
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with some travel to China, the Asia Pacific region and within the US

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Operations, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience bringing high volume electronics products to market
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working in ambiguous environments
  • Proven bottom line project management experience (Planning, Cost, & Delivery)
  • Background driving China-based manufacturers, remotely and in-person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Engineering degree and/or MBA
  • Mechanical or EE engineering background and working experience with either board layout and data signal integrity, power architectures, or CAD
  • Fluency in Mandarin
