Product Design Prototyper

AR/VR | Menlo Park, CA

We're looking for a C# Product Design Prototyper that is experienced with Unity and cares about about user experience, fit, finish and more. The work includes working on VR experiences at the intersection with Mixed Reality creating intuitive 3D immersive flows and situations, often having to build their own telemetry to see how users use the prototypes. This role will be working closely with 2 Product Designers, and an experienced prototyper day-to-day, as well as User Research and Product Management. Outside of prototyping, you're expected to have a design tilt, help the team land on the right solution, to defy technical limitation of the hardware and hack your way into making code work to prove-out experiences.


  • Design, research, prototype, and implement features for incremental changes as well as future iterations of the product
  • Develop and iterate rapid models of proposed design solutions in VR for the purposes of communication and evaluation
  • Help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Design, Product and Executive teams
  • Design flows and visuals and individually contribute to the product and feature set
  • Give and solicit real time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers, content strategists and QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch, as well as post-launch design support
  • Solve issues with your cross-functional leads
  • Articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
  • Advocate for product design within Oculus and throughout Facebook

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in shipping software products
  • Experience with real-time 3D development such as Unity/C# or Unreal
  • Proven problem solving skills, experience overcoming challenges

Preferred Qualifications

  • A portfolio of work built in Unity or other real-time 3D engine, of which you can talk through the design and implementation process
  • Experience thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Knowledge of virtual reality and emerging technologies
  • Game development experience
  • UI development experience
  • Unreal Engine experience
  • Experience in 3D tools such as Maya, 3DS Max or Cinema 4D
