Release Manager, Beat Games

Oculus Studios and Beat Games are looking for QA Release Managers to join our studio in Prague to help take Beat Saber to the next level. This is a key role in building the future of VR games and entertainment with the Beat Games team. This is a growing team of leaders in the VR industry at the cutting edge of where music and games come together. You will be responsible for creating, submitting and handling all tasks related to builds, updates, and DLC that launch across multiple VR platforms. You will also be working with level designers to integrate their content into the game. Part of this role is also ensuring smooth and consistent releases as well as deploying builds for testing. Beat Games is an award-winning game studio based in Prague, Czech Republic. Their first VR game title, Beat Saber, became an overnight success selling more than 1 million copies in the first 10 months and collaborating with some of the biggest artists in the music industry.

Responsibilities

  • Define a release management process that drives high quality, timely updates to Beat Saber.
  • Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, identify and address potential roadblocks to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver assets and information for game updates.
  • Submit content through VR platform pipelines, including metadata creation and management.
  • Manage internal QA and external QA vendors.
  • Hold teams accountable for quality and timeliness of deliverables.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA project management experience in VR, console, or PC video games with at least three of those years focused on release management supporting games that run a live service
  • 2+ years experience working on titles built with the Unity engine
  • 2+ years working with an external QA vendor
  • Experience working as an embedded QA tester
  • Experience with Compliance/Certification testing
  • Experience submitting builds to 1st party platforms (e.g. Playstation, Steam, Oculus)
  • Ability to output a live branch and execute a command to prepare build
  • Experience with end-to-end game QA process
  • Understanding of game production life cycle, tools, process and execution planning
  • Familiar with bug tracking databases
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization
  • Passion and familiarity with multiple genres of PC and/or console games

Preferred Qualifications

  • Platform QA and new hardware development experience
  • VR development
  • Experience with cloud build systems
