Join the celebration in Oculus Venues as The Game Awards honors this year’s greatest achievements in gaming.
The Game Awards brings together a diverse group of game developers, players and fans to recognize creative and technical excellence. The event will broadcast live from The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and will include special guest appearances from household names in music and entertainment.
Hosted by notable gaming journalist and founder of the show, Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards will not only bestow honors to 2019’s greatest games, it will also include key 2020 announcements from top developers, and will celebrate the industry at large.
The event has generated considerable interest worldwide after transitioning from a traditional TV broadcast to an online event, extending access to gamers via livestream on any connected device.
In 2018, the event reached over 26 million viewers worldwide and hosted special guest appearances by Jonah Hill, Christoph Waltz, The Russo Brothers (Avengers), Aisha Tyler, Joel McHale, Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Brendon Urie (Panic! at the Disco), Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, JackSepticEye, Phil Spencer (Xbox), Jeff Kaplan (Blizzard), Shawn Layden (PlayStation) and more.
Quoted in Variety in 2018, Keighley spoke of his vision for the awards saying, “I wanted to build something for a gaming audience with the support of the gaming audience.”
Oculus Venues supports this vision by bringing the gaming community together in new ways that defy distance. Oculus Venues is the only platform that will broadcast the event in VR, and will host a similarly diverse group of VR developers, gamers and fans to experience the event together in-headset with Oculus Quest or Go.
Oculus Venues is not just a platform for watching the event, it’s also inherently social. Join the event to connect with other fans to discuss the best gaming achievements of 2019, or invite your own crew.
