POLICIES SPECIFIC TO OCULUS ACCOUNT USERS
To keep Horizon a fun and welcoming place for everyone, we've made it easier to submit reports and signal for help if something is wrong:
When you use Horizon, your device will record (through a rolling buffer processed locally on-device) your and other users’ most recent audio and other interactions in Horizon. Captured audio data from this rolling buffer is not stored on our servers unless a report is submitted. However, other data, including data collected through platform services and integrations, about your experience in Horizon may be stored by us on our servers. You may submit the data from your device, which we associate with contextual data, to us in order to report abuse, combat harmful conduct, and protect and support our community. Other users who are nearby may similarly submit these types of reports. If you do not submit a report, the audio recordings will be cleared when more time has elapsed than the rolling buffer.
If you mute, block, or report someone in Horizon, a trained safety specialist may remotely observe and record the situation in real time, including the person you reported and others nearby. Safety specialists won't appear as avatars, but if you want to check if one has observed a location you were in, you can find out at: facebook.com/support. If a Horizon Guide happens to be in the area and they see something, they can submit a report with a recording, just like anyone else.
Based on what the trained safety specialist observes in real time, they’ll decide whether the person has violated the Conduct in VR Policy or the Facebook Community Standards. If so, that person will be banned from Horizon for 2 hours, and we’ll review the report with the recording. Upon further review, people's accounts may be temporarily suspended or, for repeated or egregious offenses, permanently disabled.
All recordings that users or trained safety specialists submit in Horizon are only retained for as long as necessary to investigate and fully resolve the report. Except where necessary to comply with applicable law, the recording is deleted once we’ve resolved the report.
Please review our Supplemental Oculus Data Policy at oculus.com/legal/privacy-policy for more information about how we collect and use data.
