Meet the Advisory Board

Creators Lab Kick-Off: Introducing VR for Good’s 2017 Filmmakers, Participants, and Advisory Board

We're excited to announce the members of our 2017 Creators Lab Advisory Board, including a number of mentors and one of our filmmakers from the inaugural 2016 program.

Selected based on their wide range of expertise and leadership in the VR community, our advisors will be available for guidance and advice as this year's creators work to bring their projects and corresponding causes to life.

Gabo Arora

LightShed | UN
Gabo is an award-winning filmmaker and Founder/ Creative Director of LightShed. He is currently an advisor to numerous UN agencies, NGOs, and multinationals on the use of immersive tech to promote social causes.

Shannon Carroll

Vivid Story
Shannon is the Creative Director of Vivid Story, an NYC-based studio harnessing the power of visual storytelling for causes. She produces compelling visual narratives for social enterprises to increase their impact and authentically connect with core audiences.

Jess Engel

Jess joined Within following a stint as Executive Producer at Virtualize, a VR content agency based in NYC. Previously, Jess was the Creative Executive at Electric City Entertainment in LA. She is a 2016 Sundance New Frontier Fellow.

Maureen Fan

Baobab Studios
Maureen is CEO and founder of Baobob Studios, the leading VR animation studio. She was most recently vice president of games at Zynga, where she oversaw three game studios which contributed to 40% of the company's revenues.

Loren Hammonds

Tribeca Film Festival
Loren is the Programmer of Feature Films and Immersive Content at Tribeca Film Festival. He is also the Executive Producer for StoryNEXT, an annual virtual reality conference presented by USA Today and NY Television Festival.

Bryn Mooser

Bryn Mooser is the CEO and co-founder of RYOT. Recently acquired by AOL, RYOT is the leading immersive media company specializing in virtual and augmented reality. As a twice-Oscar nominated filmmaker, Mooser has overseen the production of more than 200 linear and immersive films created by RYOT.

Barry Pousman

Variable Labs
Barry is co-founder and CEO of Variable Labs, an immersive media company focused on fostering empathy for positive behavior change. His clients include Google, XPRIZE, the UN, and other top tier organizations and companies around the globe.

Yelena Rachitsky

Yelena is an Executive Producer of Experiences at Oculus, sourcing and producing content around entertainment, news, documentaries, and experiential work on the Oculus platform. Rachitsky is a consultant for the Sundance Film Festival's New Frontier program.

Colum Slevin

Colum oversees the experiences group for the Oculus VR content team, helping a portfolio of third-party developers making 360 video, narrative, and real-time experiences for Mobile VR and Rift. Colum joined Oculus in 2015, after Telltale Games, Industrial Light + Magic, and Lucasfilm.

Mary Spio

Mary has created content and technologies for global titans such as Lucasfilm, Universal Music, Miami Children's Hospital, Microsoft Xbox, and more. Today, she is the CEO and President of CEEK VR INC., a developer of innovative virtual and augmented reality content solutions and experiences.

Joanne Sprague

Joanne leads marketing programs for social impact at Facebook. Prior to Facebook, Joanne ran a nonprofit startup called Friendfactor that helped non-LGBTQ people become allies for LGBTQ equality in their communities.

Rose Troche

Film Director/Producer
Rose is an award-winning writer/director/producer working in film, television, and new media. Her work includes Go Fish, Six Feet Under, The L Word, South of Nowhere, and most recently IF NOT LOVE, which premiered in the New Frontier section of the Sundance Film Festival.
